9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Learn the basics of making botanical dyes, and create a personalized silk scarf, while you immerse yourself in the beautiful and nurturing gardens of the California Center for Creative renewal. We will explore and deepen our connection to the natural world, as we experiment with several low-water dying techniques, including steam dying, and direct application through pounding and printing. You will be encouraged to experiment and play, collaborating with nature and your fellow workshop participants to create a unique work of art.
Presenter: Heather Biermann
Heather Biermann holds degrees in fine art and art therapy. She developed her dying techniques during her time spent as an artist in residence for the National Park Service. Heather shares her knowledge and enjoyment of natural materials, art making, and community, to encourage the emergence of deeper relationships between people and the natural world.
