Surrealist Collage
Saturday, January 7, 2017
9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Inspired by Soulcollage, originated by Sena Frost, Surrealist Collage blends the intuitive choice of images with the careful construction of personal cards.  This full day intensive is for those who have taken a Surrealist Collage or SoulCollage workshop previously.

In constructing these collages, we trust in the spontaneity of allowing magazine images to choose us, and then notice how these images can become interlaced with background imagery to empower us and answer life questions. The final collage invariably triggers memories, personal stories, spiritual connections or archetypal associations.
We will continue to create our “decks” to help guide our life choices.

If you have not experienced this process, you can book an individual hour with me to get “up to speed” and then register for the workshop.

Story Spinning: Harvesting Your Life Events & Harnessing Their Power
Saturday, November 12, 2016 - Sunday, November 13, 2016
9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Our stories define us. They affect our well-being, our relationships, our present and our future. They are vehicles of energy, vessels of possibility. They contain infinite potential and we can harness light and great power from the experiences of our lives. Our bodies are waiting to be tapped for their wisdom, gained from every ordeal we have suffered or encountered. Every catastrophe has stripped us of something and given us something. The nakedness, we know. The gifts are yet to be unearthed.

In this circle of women, we will revisit our threshold experiences, our decisive moments and pivotal events and re-view them through a lens of emotional clarity and compassion. We will experience the deep listening of others as we share our stories, hear the narrative arc, define the crisis and revisit the resolution. We will see our role in co-creating the event and the narrative, and we will reconsider the telling from a place of power.

Using music, poetry and writing, we will evolve ourselves beyond dualistic thinking and enter into a mindset of oneness and gratitude. We will experience the energetic changes that accompany a change of narrative, and discover the healing capacity embedded in every story.

Jan Phillips is a writer, photographer and activist who connects the dots between evolutionary creativity, spiritual intelligence and social action. In her keynotes and workshops, she uses music, poetry and images to keep the heart and brain connected. Jan is the author of ten award-winning books. She is co- founder and director of the Livingkindness Foundation, a grassroots activist organization supporting women in leadership and art in activism. www.janphillips.com

Affirmation Dolls
May 4, 2013

What relationship is more complex than that of mother and daughter?

The process of creating affirmation dolls is handed down from African American slave mothers, who practiced this tradition with their daughters as a way to preserve a sense of dignity, hope and survival of spirit.

This will be a day dedicated to our mothers, daughters and sisters and will be enriched if you can come with either one from your own family or someone who has been like a "mother", "daughter" or "sister" to you.

Through the use of yarn and cloth you will learn to create dolls which preserve the strength and dignity of life, countering the critical voices from the past that have held us back from embracing our full creativity and self confidence.
